☺Steve Carter volunteers at Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens monthly bamboo group meetings. The group meets the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:00am to 12:00 noon.

☺Many people have lost trees and other valuable plants in their landscape due to hurricane Ike. Here at Carter Ranch we lost many tree limbs, but sustained very minor bamboo damage in our large specimen plants. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant you can add into your landscape. Some of the larger bamboo make great replacements for trees and can reach maximum heights and maturity in as little as 3 to 5 years.

☺Bamboo also make great replacements for privacy fences or can be planted as a hedge along side of your fence. Many fences were blown over during hurricane Ike. The fences that had bamboo hedges were often protected from the winds and sustained no damage. Bamboo makes a great wind block!

☺Bambusa Oldhamii “Oscar” is now being offered in very limited quantities. Please inquire.
